Yeah, stuck in school mode...

Okay, I'm supposed to be writing papers, and I will, but I needed to take a break to share a fascinating study I stumbled upon.

Self-silencing: The act of withholding emotions, opinions, strengths, and capabilities perceived to be threatening to one’s partner in order to maintain the relationship.

So self-silencing has previously been linked with depression, low self-esteem, lower self-reported quality of life among female cancer patients--you get the idea.

And now, this study gives some preliminary evidence that this self-silencing may be linked with increased risk of eating disorders. Well huh.

Further evidence that dealing with emotions is an important step in the road to healthier eating. Mind, body, spirit. :)
