Waterfire in Providence

I also took Maddie to “Waterfire,” which is Providence’s quirkiness at its best. There’s a river that runs through downtown, and every other week during the summer, the city lights fires all the way down the river. Half the city turns out, and random music plays the whole night while people walk along the riverwalk. This time, music included some Celtic ballad, Indian music, and salsa, as well as a couple of other things. Providence definitely has a small-town feel. As Maddie put it, it kind of reminds me of BYU where we do all kinds of random, quirky things to have fun (that don’t usually fit into people’s ideas of “partying”). The only thing is, Providence doesn’t have the excuse of being Mormon! That makes it even funnier.
